Erik, who lives in Holladay, Utah, has a lot of debt from college loans, a heavy mortgage, and a recent job move that resulted in a pay decrease. When a coworker first introduced Erik to Givling in 2017, Erik’s journey with the platform began. He was excited to support the cause even if he never anticipated financial success because the game offered the interesting prospect of student loan relief. He saw the way the game and its strategy developed over time, turning it from a simple hobby to a type of investment.

Erik, whose student loan balance is over $100,000, was previously eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). But then he decided to pursue a new career in finance and asset management, so that took him out of the PSLF program.  He made many sacrifices along the way to achieve his ideal career, such as giving up all of his paid time off and parental leave to take a risk. 

Erik’s story exemplifies perseverance and persistence. Even on momentous events like his wedding day, he insisted on spinning the Givling spinner every single day. His straightforward yet wise counsel to other players is this: everything worthwhile in life has a price, be it money or effort. 

Professionally, Erik Simpson is a stock trader. He was born and raised in the beautiful state of Utah, where the nearby mountains provide the ideal setting for his favorite outdoor pursuits, which include snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and camping. Nonetheless, he cherishes his time with his two young girls the most.
