CHICAGO, IL — Natalie Stuckey, born and raised in Chicago to immigrant parents, was taught at a young age to pursue the American dream. “It all begins with a college education,” shared Stuckey.
Natalie was proud to be the first in her family to attend college. But once it was time to enter the real world, the dreaded student loan repayment bills started arriving. “I was $75,000 in debt. I had no idea what to do with a psychology degree. So I decided to pursue a graduate degree in healthcare management. I worked for a healthcare nonprofit, and I stayed there long enough to complete my masters using their tuition reimbursement program.”
Now working for a major healthcare insurance company, Natalie knew it was time to tackle her undergraduate debt. “I casually started playing Givling back in 2017. I remember being on my honeymoon and playing my trivia games. I saw the community and movement Givling created, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Well, Natalie’s commitment to helping crowdfund other Givling users has paid off. Today, she received the notice she’s being funded $50,000 towards her loans. “I texted all of my family and friends when I saw my loan was in the funding spot. I can now start saving for my daughter’s college education with CollegeBacker, a Givling sponsor.”
So, how was this possible? What is Givling? Through a trivia game on your phone. The idea of Givling is simple: take the crowdfunding power of GoFundMe and turn it into a fun trivia game. And so far, the proof is in the numbers. Over $7,000,000 has been awarded to Givling users across the nation.
While the award from Givling is something to celebrate, the Stuckey family has faced tremendous highs and lows lately. In February 2020, Natalie and her husband welcomed their daughter to the world. However, in September, Natalie’s mother passed from cancer. “2020 was quite the year. I am just so incredibly grateful to be starting the New Year in the Givling funding box.”
