Is there anything better than preparing to marry your “life partner”? How about an extra $5,000 to start your newlywed journey!

That’s exactly what happened to Shanette Britton (now Weeden!). During the pandemic, she got engaged and is “very excited and happy to marry my life partner.” Shanette says this award will “help me to pay back some of my credit card balance, I am also getting married next month so, we are hoping (if we are able to travel) we can go on our honeymoon. So this will definitely help out with bills and, hopefully, put some money in savings.”

“The biggest obstacle I have overcome in my life is moving from Jamaica at the age of 16 and coming to a whole new country to live my life. Having to adjust to a new country, new school, new culture, a different way of life. I moved around a lot after high school, and I was able to find a job and later on got my Associate degree in Accounting.”

Shanette started playing Givling two years ago; “I saw it as an opportunity to pay off my student loans and I jumped on it.” Here’s how her one-day award funding happened: “When the queue first changed over for the 5k I did my spin and for the first time in forever, I landed on so many 500s that when I finished my spins I was number one. I didn’t think it would last, I did my spins the days following I was able to stay at number one. I was so shocked that I was actually still at number one because that never happened before. I was so excited I told my fiance that I was at number one and I hope I stayed there. When I saw that the 10k was about to be finished I was excited and nervous at the same time that someone could easily pass me right at the last minute. I stayed up until 2.30 am eastern time to make sure my spins were done in case I fell asleep and someone passed me. It wasn’t funded by midnight like I thought so I did my spins and went to sleep. The next morning I woke up and check the app I saw that it was so close, I did my spins but everyone else started to spin and I kept watching but it was taking longer it seems like and I got more nervous that I might just get passed at the last second, so I decided to sacrifice and fund the last $600 dollars to get myself in the 5k spot right away, and that’s what happened. Now here we are, my $5k was funded in one day. I’m am grateful and thankful.”

Shanette lives in Oxon Hill, Maryland, which is “very close to everything. It is famous for nightlife, casinos, and shopping. It is near the MGM casino, National Harbor, Washington, DC the nation’s capital, and Virginia. The diversity is great and also the food.” Did you know?
