Nearly $400,000 Awarded to Michiganers through Trivia Game App

DETROIT, MI –  How much time do you spend on your phone each day? Four, five, six hours? What if just a couple of minutes of those hours resulted in up to $50,000 towards a student loan or mortgage?

Well, for 58 Michiganers, these few minutes each day have led to big paydays as nearly $400,000 has been awarded to Michigan winners.

Just this week, high school history teacher Hillary Rose, based in the suburb of Carlton, was the latest Michigan native to win on the mobile app called Givling.  By watching a few video ads each day, answering trivia questions, and completing a daily survey, Rose competed with others on the Givling app to win $5,000.

“I was so frustrated by my student loans. On a teacher’s salary, my debt to income ratio was high, making it hard to do things like get a mortgage. I wanted to find a way to pay off my loans faster as I was already working multiple side jobs as an adjunct college instructor, tutor, and dog sitter.  That’s when I discovered Givling and it gave me hope” shared Rose.

Givling users can compete for various prizes such as the weekly trivia cash (this week’s jackpot is $5,226) plus a $5,000, $10,000 and $50,000 award.

Frequent trivia winner Thomas Koterla of Kalamazoo has won $25,126 since discovering Givling back in 2019. “After my first win, I knew I was on to something. I’ve used my winnings to attack my mortgage and complete a significant number of home and auto repairs that have been delayed for way too long. Givling and the community is truly life-changing” stated Koterla.

With inflation causing Americans to skimp on milk, supply chain issues impacting baby formula availability and retailers such as Target and Walmart sounding the alarm on the economy, Givling winners are using winnings to cover basic needs or host family gatherings while keeping budgets in mind. “I plan to use this money ($362 cash award) to buy food.  It’s been hard and I’ve struggled financially. Save-A-Lot, here I come” shared Jannette Thompson of Hopkins, Michigan.

According to Givling’s Student Debt Lookback Survey, nearly half of student loan borrowers have been paying on student loans for more than 10 years and more than a quarter said they currently carry more than $70,000 in student loan debt. Givling is supporting those burdened via its unique crowdfunding app that has eliminated nearly $10 million in student loan debt to date. In addition, the passionate community has become a go-to source of information, resources and support.
